A US tech company is currently looking into a viral video filmed during a Coldplay concert in Boston that has triggered speculation about the identities and relationship of the individuals shown, rumored to be the company's top executives.
The video, filmed during the British band's show on Wednesday (July 16), was displayed on the venue's "kiss cam," a camera that roams around large events to showcase couples in the audience for amusement.
During the July 16 concert, a man and a woman were captured embracing and swaying to the music before hiding from view when their faces appeared on the big screen.
Reacting in real time, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked to the audience: "Either they're having an affair, or they're just very shy."
According to British broadcaster BBC's report on July 19, the video initially surfaced on TikTok, where it garnered millions of views before spreading to other platforms and being transformed into memes.
The man in the video has been identified in online posts and media reports as Andy Byron, the married chief executive of Ohio-based data software company Astronomer. The woman has been identified as Kristin Cabot, the firm's chief human resources officer.
Byron's wife, Megan Kerrigan, removed her married name from her Facebook handle on July 17 and subsequently deleted her account, as reported by the New York Post.
Regarding Cabot, Massachusetts court records mentioned by the New York Post indicate that she got divorced in 2022.
Both individuals have not confirmed their identities in the video, and the BBC stated that it was unable to verify who appeared in the footage.
In a statement posted on social media on July 18, Astronomer did not mention the concert or the people involved but announced that they had launched a formal investigation.
"Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability," the company stated.
"The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have more details to share very shortly."
The company also refuted claims that any other employees were present in the video and clarified that Byron had not released any personal statements, contrary to fake posts circulating online.
As reported by The Guardian on July 18, a source familiar with the situation mentioned that both Byron and Cabot had been placed on leave.
Astronomer has not commented on their employment status. The source also mentioned that the delay in the company's response was partly due to negotiations regarding Byron's exit package.
Established in 2018, Astronomer creates tools for data orchestration and workflow automation utilizing Apache Airflow, an open-source platform used by companies to manage intricate data pipelines.
Byron became Astronomer's CEO in July 2023. Cabot, who was appointed in November 2024, was previously commended by Byron for her "exceptional leadership and deep expertise" in talent management and people strategy.
Byron has since deactivated his social media accounts.
